About the role
The Information Management Service Delivery team is responsible for the provision of information strategy, policy, advice and reporting, user support and the administration of electronic document and records management systems, and promoting whole of government policies e.g., Digital Continuity 2020.
The key duties of the position include
The Information appraiser/sentencer will undertake the key records and document management functions and activities of records appraisal, sentencing, archiving and destruction, assisting with reducing the agency's existing paper-based records. The role also involves the identification and scanning of long-term retention paper records for digitisation, contributing to the agency meeting its requirements under the Digital Continuity 2020 Policy. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to work both individually and in a team environment.
Our ideal candidate

• Uses specialist knowledge of the ACIC records authorities, as well as the general records authorities, and demonstrated information life cycle management skills to appraise, sentence, archive and destroy the agency's paper-based and digital records, in accordance with legislative requirements and agency policies.
• Applies specialist and technical knowledge of relevant legislative requirements, including but not limited to the Archives Act 1983, Privacy Act 1988, Freedom of Information Act 1982, Australian Crime Commission Act 2002, and the Public Service Act 1999, information taxonomies and classification methodologies to the information management environment.
• Coordinates and manages paper holdings retrieval logistics for both Canberra and state office off site storage, creating efficient use of limited on site storage and working within budget constraints.
• Prepares highly detailed holding assessment and destruction reports for team leader and manager sign off.
• Provides technical expertise that contributes to business unit outcomes.
• Provides professional and policy advice within the information archival management framework.
• Identifies records for long-term retention and digitize them via bulk scanning.
• Proactively manages and organises own time and set work priorities, working individually, under limited direction, and also as part of a team.
• Works independently and under limited guidance in relation to information life cycle management, holding logistics and National Archives liaison. Complex or difficult issues are discussed with team leaders or experts.
• Has a proven ability to show initiative, make recommendations for improvements and deliver quality outcomes.
• As required, assists with other Information Management Services team activities by contributing to high priority tasks to ensure the timely and effective delivery of team and agency objectives.
• Provides other support and assistance as directed.
