The Opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager, the purpose of this role is to promote UNIQLO and UNIQLO Australia’s sustainability and CSR initiatives by coordinating and executing successful sustainability and CSR projects and outcomes involving both Store and SSC team members.

You will be responsible for the creation, organisation, development and implementation of sustainable and CSR practices ensuring company objectives are met whilst complying with regulatory requirements.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, propose and manage the yearly Sustainability Department budget
  • Work with external (e.g. NFP Organisations) and internal stakeholders across various departments to plan, execute and coordinate sustainability and CSR campaigns/activations, aligning with the UNIQLO Australia business calendar.
  • Collaborate with the global sustainability team and UNIQLO Australia’s management team to identify and translate relevant global sustainability/CSR initiatives including the promotion of UNIQLO’s new/and or existing range of sustainable products for the local market across all relevant communication channels.
  • Lead the coordination and successful implementation of UNIQLO Australia’s clothing recycling program and down recycling program
  • Work with the design and visual merchandising department on the adaptation of global sustainability/CSR assets for digital and in-store executions.
  • Manage the community and sustainability outreach events including the relationships with an existing network of NFP organisations/charity partners to create, plan and execute meaningful volunteer opportunities for the UNIQLO Australia team at both a state and national level
  • Explore ways to create new, long-term partnerships with local NFP Organisations outside current network that align with UNIQLO’s global sustainability/CSR mission
  • Communicate initiatives with local NFP Organisations externally
  • Manage the UNIQLO Australia Sustainability Ambassador Program Manage the overall sustainability activity calendar with the ability to adapt and reprioritise activities in line with the business’ evolving needs.
  • Lead sustainability presentation at store and EC for communication with customers aligning with Instore Merchandising team, Store operation team and related departments.
  • Assist in the education of sustainability/CSR to increase the awareness of issues in this industry across the business through internal channels
  • Act as the main point of contact and source of information for any sustainability related matters internally (local and global team).
  • Work with relevant departments for diversity and inclusion activities at a store and head office level.
  • Collaborate with store development on the renewable energy procurement to meet internal targets set by global
  • Assist customer care team with customer queries on UNIQLO Australia’s sustainability/CSR activities.
  • Review local sustainability topics, trends and regulations to ensure UQAU is always compliant and implementing new initiatives where necessary.
  • Prepare and submit all required reports, analytics and other documents for internal, FR Group and external purposes.
  • Follow up with Sustainability and CSR legislation and agenda.
  • Track and report on project performance against targets.


Skills, experience and knowledge

  • Ability to project lead - past experience in project management is preferred
  • Minimum 2-year relevant CSR and/or sustainability experience preferred
  • Excellent understanding of best practices in Australian sustainability.
  • Clear verbal and non-verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with internal (executive-level) and external stakeholders as well as the general public
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with executives across multiple markets and influence business outcomes
  • Diplomatic personality that is able to influence key stakeholders
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Ability to work to tight time frames and cope well under pressure
  • Resilient, flexible and adaptable mind set
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, ever evolving environment
  • Weekend availability as well as an ability to work a flexible schedule during the week is required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Experience working with people from other cultures
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Sustainability/CSR/Non-for-profit organisation experience is preferred
  • Retail industry experience in customer service preferred
