About the opportunity
Working in the Menzies Institute for Medical Research (Menzies) at the University of Tasmania, the Manager, Tasmanian Data Linkage Unit will lead and manage the Tasmanian Data Linkage Unit (TDLU).
As part of Research Platforms at Menzies, the TDLU is a node of the Population Health Research Network (PHRN) providing data linkage services for Tasmania and working collaboratively with other nodes in supporting research activities across Australia using high quality linked data.
The Manager, TDLU will lead and manage the development and implementation of strategy and planning for the Unit; and be responsible for and lead day-to-day operations, including governance, budget, stakeholder engagement, client services, reporting, risk and compliance.
What you’ll do:
- Lead and manage the development and implementation of strategy, planning and governance for the TDLU in collaboration with Menzies’ leadership and the TDLU Management Committee.
- With funding for the TDLU secured to the 30 June 2026, work with key stakeholders to develop a series of options relating to the sustainability of the TDLU beyond the current contract.
- Ensure TDLU governance frameworks, policies and procedures are maintained and adhered to.
- Establish, strengthen and develop effective working relationships across a wide range of stakeholder groups at state and national level, including health-related and government agencies, relevant tertiary sector groups and other data suppliers on matters related to data linkage.
- Represent the TDLU on national and state committees as required.
- Be responsible for and lead the day-to-day operations of the TDLU, according to the strategic plan, budget, milestones, risk assessments, contractual and compliance obligations, and high level stakeholder engagement.
- Manage the development of infrastructure funding proposals, budget development, achievement of contractual milestones, governance and associated reporting to the PHRN and Management Committee.
- Manage the client servicing aspects of the TDLU, providing guidance and support for complex data linkage projects.
- Promote the TDLU and services provided by the TDLU to grow and diversify the user base.
What we’re looking for:
- Completion of a postgraduate degree in a relevant field and extensive relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Proven experience in developing and delivering strategic and operational plans which align with organisational priorities.
- Demonstrated strategic and operational leadership experience within a complex, health environment.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strong and productive relationships, networks, and partnerships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including the ability to negotiate and interact effectively with a range of stakeholders at executive level.
- Demonstrated experience in leading, managing and supervising a team, including the effective management of a team’s financial, physical and human resources.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 9 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $155,332 pro rata comprising base salary within the range of $125,959 to $132,762 plus 17% superannuation.
