Analytics Leader, Operations Transformation

Virgin Australia Group
Dubbo Full-day Full-time

Description:

Hello. We’re Virgin Australia. We’re the airline that’s always done things a little different. Our way. The Virgin way. We’re on a mission to make flying better than ‘nice’. And to do that, it takes a team of talented people who are passionate about customer experience, doing the right thing always, with a focus on safety – in the air, on the ground and in our workplaces. A team who values real diversity and inclusion, in a big brand with big ambitions.

What you’ll be doing

Working closely with the Head of Operations Transformation and Financial Analysts, the Analytics Leader will be responsible for leading the most complex benefits topics across Operations Transformation. You will be a leader in conceptual thinking on operational efficiencies, cost drivers and resource planning mechanics, and drive these conversations across management. You will also lead ideation discussions relating to the P&L and financial benefits, and provide leadership and guidance to the Finance Analysts.

You will need to work extensively with simple and complex Excel models, which includes the need to learn, review, diagnose or enhance existing models, and develop new models. You will occasionally lead the development of ideas and business cases, and play a role in supporting the existing team with regular program reporting and benefits tracking. Building trust and relationships across management and the analytical community will be essential.

In order to develop a comprehensive understanding of operations efficiencies, business economics and financial outcomes, you may come from a modelling or high-complexity analytics background with very high Excel skills. Strong modelling candidates from consulting and investment banking will be highly regarded, as well as high-performing analytical and conceptual thinkers with strong modelling experience in FP&A, M&A and corporate finance teams. Attention to detail and strong ability to communicate complex concepts to senior management will be essential.

You’ll be great in this role if you have…

  • 10+ years consulting and modelling experience covering cost analysis, forecasting, optimisation, project benefits, financial reporting or management accounting
  • Ability to build, review and enhance highly complex and structured Excel models
  • Experience leading an analytical team
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Highly developed analytical and visualisation skills. Ability to interpret complex data, and draw, visualise and present recommendations to stakeholder groups
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusting, effective on-going business relationships with diverse groups of people across the organisation

We’re committed to looking after you, with some of the best benefits and conditions in the industry – including (but not limited to):

  • Discounted flights for you and your loved ones (including $1000 worth of travel credits per year)
  • A flexible, hybrid work style. Work from home or the office, adapt your location to suit your style and needs
  • One of Brisbane’s most admired head office locations, with South Bank train station, a supermarket, pharmacy, and lunch options downstairs plus a 5-minute walk to the Busway, a rooftop restaurant and onsite gym (with a low membership fee) and South Bank Parklands just across the road
  • Discounts on travel insurance, lounge membership, car hire, accommodation, and experiences worldwide
  • Cheaper hospitality, retail, technology, beauty and wellness services
  • Free counselling and access to a wellbeing app to support your physical, mental, social and financial health
  • ‘Dress for Your Day’ – enjoy the freedom to wear whatever makes you feel great for the type of work you do and the day you have ahead of you.
