Description:

The Lawyer provides high-level, competent and timely legal advice and representation to the Attorney-General, Director-General and departmental officers in relation to a wide range of legal matters for all areas of DoJ.

The Lawyer is supervised by a Principal Lawyer (PO6)

Provide competent and effective written legal advice and drafting in relation to departmental business activities and contentious issues, often of a complex and sensitive nature and which may be the subject of litigation, which are under consideration by the Attorney-General, Director-General and other senior departmental officers.

Provide advocacy services in courts and tribunals for appropriate matters referred from departmental business units; and assist more senior lawyers with complex advocacy matters; represent LAA or DoJ in internal or external meetings and build strong connections with DoJ clients and Crown Law.
