Australian Pioneer Pistachio Company (APPC) is proud to be one of Australia’s largest, privately owned grower and processor of Pistachios. As pioneer of producing and marketing locally grown Australian Pistachios, we are committed to investing in the business through innovation and technology developments.


APPC is located in Robinvale in the Sunraysia region of Victoria, which are ideally suited for Pistachio growing. We have recently completed the expansion of the hulling and grading plant at Robinvale, Victoria to including a roasting and packing facility.


APPC belong to one of the arms of Nut Producers Australia (NPA) who are an almond and pistachio management, sales, product trading and marketing business. A collective of three companies: NPA - based in Adelaide; Riverland Almonds (RA) - the almond processing company based in Loxton SA with hulling in Lindsay Point Vic; and Australian Pioneer Pistachio Company (APPC) - the pistachio company based in Robinvale, Vic


About the role:


We are seeking a Leading Hand- Quality to manage day to day quality assurance activities for pistachio hulling, drying, grading, roasting and packing operations at APPC. This includes food safety, product quality, quality systems, continuous improvement, Laboratory operations and compliance activities. The role involves ensuring all Food Safety and Quality aspects are managed to mitigate risk and optimise product quality.

In your role as Leading Hand - Quality, you will:


  • Comply, implement and contribute to the improvement of documented Food Safety & Quality Management systems
  • Make autonomous decisions on product and processing issues in line with the documented Food Safety & Quality Management System.
  • Ensure all products are tested in accordance with food safety standards, customer requirements, and in accordance with Food Safety & Quality Systems.
  • Ensure compliance to Internal Pest monitoring and recording processes.
  • Ensure Quality Hold procedures are upheld on the factory floor.
  • Ensure all product, equipment and packaging is stored according to procedures.
  • Ensure all stock for dispatch meets required standards and is checked according to procedures.
  • Assist in internal and external auditing process.
  • Assist with staff training in regard to Food Safety & Quality requirements.
  • Actively engage in problem solving to ensure product quality and process efficiency.
  • Part of the HACCP team, assist in the management of traceability procedures.
  • Encourage and provide open communication platforms for quality-related issues.
  • Actively involve and inspect QA points, checks and process during hulling season
