At Officeworks, we’re committed to delivering great experiences – for our customers, our team members, and the communities we serve. As we continue to invest in our digital capabilities, we’re looking for an experienced Observability Engineer to join our Technology team.
In this role, you’ll play a key part in shaping and supporting observability practices across our Digital function. You’ll help ensure our teams have the tools, insights and support they need to build, run and improve reliable, scalable, and secure systems.
Reporting to the Chapter Lead – Operations and Service, the Observability Engineer will:
• Design, implement and manage observability practices tailored for our Digital environment
• Build and support monitoring solutions using tools like DataDog, Dynatrace, Sumo Logic, and ServiceNow
• Collaborate closely with Digital engineers to improve system visibility and help drive a DevSecOps mindset
• Act as a subject matter expert in areas such as system instrumentation, CI/CD pipeline health, AWS observability, and automated monitoring
• Support incident and problem management by providing timely insights and visibility into system health
• Contribute to the development of observability standards, playbooks and runbooks
• Partner with key stakeholders across Technology to support disaster recovery, performance monitoring and secure coding practices
This a hybrid role based out of our Chadstone Support Office in Victoria.
About you
You’re someone who brings both deep technical expertise and a collaborative, solution-focused mindset. You’ll have:
• 5+ years of IT experience, ideally in SRE, DevOps or operations-focused teams
• Strong hands-on experience with observability tools like DataDog, Dynatrace or Sumo Logic
• Experience designing observability solutions for cloud-native environments, preferably on AWS that provide meaningful and actionable insights.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins), infrastructure as code (CloudFormation or CDK), and container orchestration (ECS, EKS, Docker)
• A good understanding of the SDLC, agile delivery and secure coding practices
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• A proactive and practical approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
