We deliver 28 key services such as childcare, waste collection, parks maintenance, libraries, community facilities and aquatic centres to over 380,000 residents.
The role
As a Senior Finance Officer, my primary objective is to deliver efficient and effective financial and administrative services that support the organization's strategic goals. To providing day-to-day financial operational support and addressing financial function queries with precision and timeliness.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Process Financial Transactions: Efficiently handle accounts payable transactions, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- System and Process Improvements: Identify and implement system and process enhancements in collaboration with Team Leaders Accounts Payable.
- Compliance and Audits: Ensure compliance with internal controls and assist with internal and external audits of Accounts Payable processes.
- Statutory and Taxation Requirements: Support the fulfillment of all statutory financial and reporting obligations, including GST-related substantiation, reporting, payment, and administration.
- Financial Integrity: Maintain the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of Council’s financial ledgers related to Accounts Payable functions.
- Reconciliation Management: Manage and ensure timely completion of all reconciliations related to Accounts Payable functions.
- Policy and Procedure Development: Assist in developing and documenting policies and procedures for Accounts Payable functions.
- Customer Service: Address complex or unusual inquiries and complaints from creditors and internal customers.
- Work Plan Development: Aid Team Leaders Accounts Payable in creating individual work plans aligned with the Unit’s objectives.
- Relationship Building: Foster strong working relationships through credibility and open communication.

You will have:
- Current NSW Drivers Licence.
- Experienced in processing financial transactions with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong proficiency skills in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Basic understanding of accounting procedures, systems, and GST requirements impacting Accounts Payable.
- Proficient in reconciling accounts and maintaining financial ledgers.
- Highly developed analytical abilities and interpersonal skills, enabling effective teamwork and adherence to strict procedures and guidelines.
- Strong ability to plan, prioritize work, and manage time efficiently.
- Excellent skills in building and maintaining customer relationships.
- Competent in using relevant computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
The salary range for this opportunity starts at $75,011 (Grade E, Step 1) + 11.5% super. Salary may be negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
