About this role
Delivering 4 Customers (D4C) is a consortium comprising of industry leading Tier 1 organisations – John Holland, Service Stream and WSP. Sydney Water has partnered with D4C to deliver design, construction, maintenance and facilities management services across their southern region - from Bondi to Gerringong, and out to Georges River.
D4C is seeking an Estimator to join our dynamic, diverse and high performing team in an exciting time of growth. We need your skills and expertise to help Sydney Water deliver a $34 billion dollar program over the next 10 years to build, maintain and protect the future of our iconic water resources.
Primary Purpose
We are looking for a qualified Estimating Lead to join our D4C team based in our Redfern office. Reporting to the Business Performance & Commercial Lead.
Key Accountabilities
- At all times work safely and in line with D4C and Sydney Water HSEQ requirements supporting the mission of Delivering Differently
- Develop accurate cost estimates for construction works, inclusive of all indirect and direct costs, in line with the tender timelines.
- Work with inhouse Design, Construction, Safety, Proposals and management teams to provide feedback on design and methodologies and ensure precise and timely estimation of works.
- Collaborate with the client to identify efficiency opportunities and prove value for money or the works proposed.
- Implement project cost estimation standards, procedures and tools aligned to D4C objectives.
- Maintain a benchmarking framework/database for projects, providing trend analysis and information to allow the improvement of cost methodologies.
- Ensuring benchmarking for cost comparison is carried out, including the use of first principles, past projects and other various sources.
- Maintain supplier and pricing schedule databases with up to date pricing
- Assist with the preparation of cost plans, tenders and budget estimates as required.
- Provide high quality analytical support for the preparation of project cost plans, budget estimates, tenders and business cases, and deliver in a timely manner
- Ensure to apply correct resources to build up the estimation.
- Understanding of the scope, material take off , technical details , plant processes
- Understanding of Cost Break Down and Work Break Down structure, significance and application.
- Aptitude for detailing, time management, to set priority to meet the deadlines of deliverables
- Provide analytical support to the regular reviews and validation of Cost Planning and estimates, highlighting potential issues with key stakeholders to the Lead Estimator.
- Assist with bid reviews to verify accuracy of cost estimation and identify areas for improvement
- Work with the construction team to get the site feedback and loop back for the future projects' estimation
- Engage with the client to align on methodologies and work break downs.
- Visit site as required to get better feel of the scope and access issues
- Follow D4C procedure and processes
- Exercise astute judgement in managing confidential and sensitive information that has the potential to impact on D4C performance and reputation
Essential
- Bachelors in Engineering (Civil or Mechanical) or related degree.
- Quantity Surveying/Estimation experience
- Experience working within the Infrastructure space preferred, particularly in areas such as Wastewater Treatment plants, Pump Stations and brownfield network renewals and upgrades.
- Exposure OR additional qualification in Project/Construction management is an added advantage.
