Join the team at the Dubbo City Animal Shelter as a casual Animal Attendant, where you’ll play a vital role in caring for and rehoming animals. This is an opportunity to work with a dedicated team, support animal control efforts, and help educate the community about responsible pet ownership. You’ll not only assist with daily shelter operations, animal care, and customer service but also contribute to a compassionate mission that improves the lives of animals and the community as a whole. You’ll make an impact by:

  • Ensuring the animals in our care are safe, well cared for and ready for rehoming
  • Working as part of a close-knit team to maintain the shelter to a high standard
  • Assisting with education programs for the betterment of companion animals and our community
  • Enjoy the guaranteed 19 hours of week whilst having the flexibility

What you'll bring

To thrive in this role, you will need:

  • Previous work-related experience in animal handling
  • Previous work-related experience in cleaning and maintenance of animal housing facilities
  • Demonstrated computer literacy and administration skills, including databases and cash handling
  • Customer service experience and high level communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated experience following procedures and WHS requirements

We would also love you to have:

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and industry guidelines including Companion Animals Act, Impounding Act and Work Health and Safety Act.
  • Previous animal shelter operating experience including handling injured and aggressive animals.
  • Certificate II Animal Studies, Accredited Authorised Identifier and Euthanasia qualification.

This position offers an attractive salary ranging from $27.50 to 31.94 per hour plus allowances.
