Purpose:
To contribute to the Rates teams' objectives in maintaining Council's property, and rating and utility billing systems and processes consistent with:
- Council's legislative obligations under the Local Government Act 2009 and Local Government Regulation 2012 for rates and charges
- Council's legislative obligations under the Gas Supply Act 2003, Water Act 2000 and Energy and Water Ombudsman Act 2006 for water and natural gas
- Council's Revenue Statement, policies, and procedures
- Other Legislative obligations as required
The role works under the direction and general guidance of the Lead Rates & Utilities Billing Officer.

Mandatory and Highly Desirable Qualifications and Licences:
To be successful you will need to demonstrate that you have (or have the ability to meet within twelve months of appointment) the below mandatory requirements for the role:
- Current C (Car) Class Driver License

Certificate III – with study and experience in the discipline of Business Administration (or other related field of study); or lesser formal qualifications with a combination of experience, expertise, and competence sufficient to perform the duties required at this level
Required Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in rating and utility billing functions and practices (including statutory requirements), within a corporate or public sector environment
- Well-developed written and administration skills with a high attention to detail and accuracy
- Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to effectively use a range of computer software (including but not limited to Microsoft Office suite of products)
- Demonstrated ability to follow direction and accurately complete tasks within allocated timeframes
- Ability to work productively within a team environment and autonomously
- Commitment and ability to demonstrate a strong commitment to Maranoa Regional Council's values and team goals
- Previous experience working in local government, rates, accounts receivable or similar environment will be highly regarded but is not essential
Position Details
- This position is based in Roma, QLD
- Full-Time Position - 36.25hours per week
- Maranoa Regional Council Certified Agreement 2023 - Stream A - Level 5-6
