Grounds/Maintenance Officer for Home Care Clients

Christian Homes Tasmania Ltd. (CHT) are not-for-profit provider of aged care services including residential care, community care and independent living housing options. CHT are committed to excellence in all aspects of our care and services.
We are seeking an experienced person, with demonstrated skills and knowledge relating to all aspects of grounds maintenance to assist our Home Care clients. The ideal candidate will have an ability to make connections and a service attitude ensuring our clients feel well taken care. This role will also provide leave coverage for Maintenance Officers.
CHT have two residential facilities, 170 Independent living units over 7 sites as well as clients living in the community. This person will be required to work across all sites and will need to be enthusiastic, self-motivated and have a passion for working with the elderly.

The successful person will demonstrate:

A proven ability to establish and maintain gardens, lawns, planting, pruning, irrigation and landscaping.

Capacity to initiate and undertake landscaping tasks and projects.

The ability to provide advice and recommendations regarding all aspects of gardens, lawns, planting, pruning, irrigation and landscaping.

An ability to utilise computer software relevant to the position.

A willingness and ability to assist with corrective and preventive maintenance as required.

A supportive approach when interacting with residents and clients with respect to their independence and making informed choices about their services and living the life they choose.

An ability to treat residents and clients with dignity and respect and support them to maintain their identity.

Proven ability to work as part of a cohesive team.

Adaptability and flexibility including the ability to deal with change.

A high level of organisational and prioritisation skills and an ability to multi-task.

Preferable Requirements of the position are:

A minimum of two years’ experience in a relevant position.

Certificate in Horticulture
Essential Requirements of the position are:

Willingness to undertake Certificate in Horticulture

An ability to participate in a rotating ‘On Call’ roster.

Current driver’s license.

A current Working with Vulnerable People Card with NDIS Worker Screening Clearance or a willingness to undertake one.
