Description:
DESCRIPTION
The AWS Data Center Planning and Delivery team is seeking a passionate, talented, and proven executive responsible for delivering end to end data center execution across the Asia Pacific and China (APAC) region.
The individual will be responsible for high quality, on-time and cost-efficient delivery of data center capacity for all regions in the Asia Pacific geography. The Director of Data Center planning and delivery will lead the teams that own new data center supply, utilities negotiation and provision, construction (including upgrades and remediation of older facilities) and delivery from initial planning through to final hand-off to our Operations teams. This role is responsible for understanding and aligning the functions of internal customers, business functions (finance, procurement, legal, etc.), external providers and internal delivery teams (e.g., networking) to enable on-time and right-sized delivery of new data center capacity.
The scope of the role begins with early expansion planning in both new and existing AWS regions, which includes a feasibility analysis to analyze, compare and approve plans and associated build timelines for both new infrastructure owned or leased by Amazon, and existing Colocation facilities. This role evaluates multiple factors and alternatives for expansion prior to approving a final plan of record to provide for the customer-driven need for capacity, including utility delivery (power, water, sewer and fiber), long lead equipment availability, the construction of physical plant infrastructure (land, site alterations, buildings, and interior mechanical and electrical facilities to support computer servers) and external vendors who provide both the equipment and services to successfully complete those facilities using Amazon generated and approved technical designs and specifications.
Following successful planning, a commitment given by this leader becomes the plan of record for all data center builds in the region, and guides execution teams to complete the facilities called for in the time frame in which they are needed. Once committed, this role requires regional knowledge of all in-flight projects, potential major risks, and in-depth knowledge of ongoing issues and remediation efforts. After initiation, ongoing monitoring is required to ensure end-to-end data center execution is on track to meet the original commitments, including ongoing adjustments made to meet continuously changing business demand.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a strategic role in shaping the future of AWS's global data center infrastructure. If you're a seasoned executive with the vision and execution skills to drive transformative change, we'd love to hear from you.
