About the Opportunity
Working as the Insulation Trainer/Mentor on a major LNG project in Darwin, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of insulation professionals. Working on a 2:1 FIFO roster, you’ll mentor and coach trainees through hands-on, real-world exercises, helping them thrive and achieve key milestones.
Collaborating with a third-party support provider and Altrad’s Corporate Training Team, you’ll ensure seamless progress, collect vital evidence for assessments, and contribute to the success of this high-profile project.
Your day-to-day includes:

Serve as the primary site contact for candidates enrolled in the traineeship program.

Assist in implementing Altrad Services’ tailored Traineeship Program, specifically for insulation, as relevant to each candidate.

Contribute to the trainee selection process.

Supervise and coordinate competency-based exercises and tasks, ensuring thorough evidence collection and proper documentation.

Observe, mentor, and coach trainees when deployed in the field, working closely with their respective workgroups.

Ensure adherence to the training schedule and deliver formal assessment blocks.

Deliver both theoretical and practical components of the formal traineeship modules.

Plan and conduct practical mentoring sessions on test rigs to enhance trainees' knowledge, capabilities, and confidence in insulation activities.

Collaborate with Insulation Supervisors, Leads, and Superintendents to integrate trainee skill development into current and upcoming scopes, facilitating on-the-job learning during project execution.
About you

Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
-
Certificate III in Sheetmetal Work/Light Fabrication and ICorr Insulation Inspector 2 Qualification or CINI (Desirable)

At least 5 years of experience in industrial insulation with strong knowledge of both cryogenic and non-cryogenic applications, including the application of jacketing (metal cladding or similar).

Exposure to and/or certification in relevant products used at ILNG is desirable (e.g., STOPAQ, Aerogel Products).

Experience in the energy, mining, marine, and/or construction industries is advantageous.

A passion for training and mentoring candidates new to the industry.

Strong analytical abilities with great attention to detail.

Strong communication skills to effectively interact with a diverse group of individuals involved in operations.

Willingness to take on a variety of tasks, including both on-site and off-site work as needed.

Disciplined and assertive yet patient and approachable, with the ability to hold trainees accountable for their performance and company expectations.
