About the role:

The position will lead and oversee investigations into integrity breaches, including but not limited to: the unauthorised release of confidential department information; conflicts of interest; fraud and corruption; integrity incidents in community service organisations or health services; incidents that may inform subsequent misconduct proceedings; and incidents involving potential notification to external investigative agencies such as Victoria Police and the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission (IBAC).

They will lead the team to improve fraud and corruption prevention practices, provide integrity related advisory support and cyber forensic services to the department and provide high level integrity guidance to the broader health sector. They will also assist in responding to integrity and external investigative agencies on a range of matters and work with Legal to provide internal legal advice in respect of these matters.

About you:

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Lead and oversee integrity investigations, ensuring investigations are well planned, documented, evidenced and comply with relevant policies and integrity legislation.
  • Identify and address systemic issues or compliance gaps that require amelioration through improved fraud and corruption prevention practices.
  • Provide timely, high quality and accurate advice and information with a high degree of sensitivity, in both verbal and written form with a high level of knowledge, expertise and risk analysis; preparing all necessary documentation, conducting investigation and review interviews, gathering evidence and writing reports.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders and senior staff and develop innovative strategies and methods which assist the department to deliver on key policies and initiatives.
  • Able to lead and work collaboratively in a teamwork environment and accountable for the Integrity unit and Integrity framework.

The successful candidate may hold (or be eligible to hold) a current practising certificate under the Legal Profession Uniform Law or a Certificate IV or above in Government Investigations.

A strong background in integrity, prevention and detection and the provision of legal and/or policy advice to government would be expected.
