In this role with MacKillop Family Services, you’ll have the opportunity to provide in-home care and support to young people who need it most, helping them grow, develop, and thrive in a safe, nurturing environment.

About The Role

As a Residential Youth Support Worker , you’ll be at the heart of our Residential Services, where we provide a safe and nurturing home for children and young people referred through the Child Protection system. You’ll play an active role in their day-to-day care, offering emotional support, fostering personal growth, and helping them build life skills.

Your Tasks Will Include

  • Supporting young people’s emotional and practical needs – offering a listening ear and helping out when they need it most.
  • Encouraging personal growth and well-being – helping them build skills, confidence, and a positive outlook on life.
  • Managing the behind-the-scenes tasks – taking care of the day-to-day admin and helping the household run smoothly.
  • Creating a positive environment – ensuring the space stays welcoming, stable, and supportive for everyone.
  • Providing a nurturing home environment, including cooking nutritious meals and encouraging our young people to eat a healthy, balanced diet.
What We’re Looking For To be a great fit for this role, you’ll need:
  • A Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (or a similar, relevant qualification plus the completion of x4 'Residential Skill Set' units).
  • A valid driver’s license (you’ll need it to get around).
  • Working with Children Check, Criminal History Check, and NDIS Worker Screening Check (we’ll help with this if needed).
  • A genuine passion for helping young people thrive and a caring heart.
  • Empathy, with the ability to connect with young people in a non-judgmental way.
  • Strong emotional self-regulation skills – you’ll be the steady hand that provides safety, consistency, and stability to those in your care.
Why You’ll Love Working With Us
  • Competitive Hourly Rate between $34.46 and $40.05, with pay dependent on your qualifications and experience. Penalties, loadings and allowances may also apply!
  • Salary Packaging options to help you save on tax – you can reduce your taxable income by up to $18,550 per year!
  • Fitness Passport – discounted gym membership for you and your family.
  • Paid Training in areas like Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), Sanctuary, and Cultural Awareness, to help you grow in your role.
  • Employee Assistance Program – access to free, confidential counselling and support for both your personal and professional life.
  • Sanctuary Model – be a part of an Organisation that implements The Sanctuary Model, a program focused on helping individuals manage stress and adversity while preventing trauma symptoms, fostering positive workplace culture change.
