KENSINGTON GARDENS ALBURY is a retirement village nestled in picturesque gardens in Thurgoona. We currently have over 250 homes with further development to reach a finished Village of over 320 homes. Our Village is promoted with lifestyle in mind and the gardens and community facilities within the Village are integral to the lifestyle expectations of our current and future residents.

We are currently looking for an additional enthusiastic and motivated gardener with a passion for the care and maintenance of gardens and landscaping who enjoys working outdoors, to actively assist our gardening team.

As a Gardener, you will report to the Head Gardener and be responsible for working collaboratively within the gardening team to deliver high level presentation for our gardens, reserves and streetscapes.

The key functions include, but are not limited to:

Undertaking duties such as establishment and maintenance of gardens and lawns, maintenance of plants including pruning of shrubs, trimming hedges and trees, lawn mowing and renovations, disease and pest control, and other ad hoc duties as requested.

You will perform prestart checks clean and operate mowers, tractors, skid steer loader, other equipment and machinery whilst observing best practice and Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures.

CRITERIA FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE OF THE JOB

You will bring an energetic and enthusiastic attitude, happy to work outside including in tough conditions. You will have the ability to identify common plants and weeds and repair irrigation systems. At all times behave in a pleasant, helpful and personable manner towards all residents of Kensington Gardens, their guests, your colleagues and suppliers.

Desired Qualifications & experience;

• Certificate III in either Horticulture, Landscaping or Turf management (or working towards)

• Demonstrated relevant work experience

• Garden Maintenance : 2 years preferred

Required;

• Reliable, positive, can do attitude, show initiative

• Hold a current drivers license with reliable transport

• Hold a White Card, or willing to work towards

• The ability to work with a minimum of supervision once basic training has been provided

• Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects

• Ability to follow safety precautions and policies whilst willingly working mainly outside and at times with chemicals, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke and loud noises

This is a full time position but we are open to part-time depending on the individual. Remuneration will be based on qualifications and experience and in alignment with the Aged Care Award.

We provide all training and PPE required by Workplace Health and Safety to ensure employee safety.
