About the program :
AIR6500 is the RAAF’s $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked ‘system of systems’ that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace.
Your responsibilities will include:
The System Integration Engineer will support the successful delivery of the AIR6500 program by developing integration artefacts, analysing defects, and conducting both informal and formal integration activities. In collaboration with the wider AIR6500 team, you will:
- Lead the agile development of integration solutions, including test automation and support tools.
- Perform root cause analysis of defects across the System of Systems.
- Manage and maintain integration environments, including CI/CD pipelines and configuration control.
- Design and implement automated System Integration Thread Tests, automate where possible, in accordance with System Thread design artefacts.
- Support and mentor junior engineers while leading test event planning and execution.
About you:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Degree qualifications in a relevant Engineering Discipline or relevant industry experience.
- In-depth knowledge of Defence Test & Evaluation processes.
- Strong experience setting up and maintaining Integration or Production Environments, including ICT, hardware, and automation tools.
- Proficient in Linux system administration, network management, and scripting (certifications desirable).
- Extensive experience in software, component, and system-level integration and testing.
- Hands-on knowledge of CI/CD tools and practices, including virtualisation, containerisation (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code (e.g. Ansible, Terraform).
- Familiarity with automated testing, DevSecOps practices, and quality assurance in an integration environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly and collaborate across teams.
- An Australian NV-1 security clearance and ability to access/handle Export Controlled technology, data and information.
