The WHS Coordinator works collaboratively with Ingham sites to provide practical WHS advice and coaching to establish and maintain a safety culture. The role is responsible for contributing to the implementation of our Work Health and Safety Management System to achieve risk reduction strategies, implement proactive training programs and to provide assistance with Worker’s Compensation and Return to Work functions. The role involves working collaboratively with team members to achieve risk reduction / management, injury prevention and continual improvement.
This role will be based at our Murray Bridge Feedmill with the requirement to travel between sites. The standard workweek consists of an average of 40 hours, typically scheduled from Monday to Friday. Occasionally, you may be asked to work additional hours beyond your regular schedule if necessary to meet the demands of your role. This could include working on weekends or public holidays.
Key responsibilities:
- Work closely with all functional teams across Inghams’ vertically integrated supply chain to implement and maintain the health, safety and environmental systems
- Work with SA’s farming teams encompassing the feedmill, hatchery and farms to ensure compliance with internal and legislative requirements
- Support the business with internal and external audits
- Continuously assess the work environment for injury prevention, by engaging employees to work in a culture of continuous improvement
- Investigate incidents and workplace injuries
- Prepare reports and KPI information to allow managers to make informed decisions for the business
- Train staff on Inghams’ WHS practices and Safety for Life program
- Maintain files and documentation to meet internal and legislative requirements
Key requirements:
- Passionate about driving continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, efficiencies and reliability
- Experience working in a high-risk environment and driving a safety culture
- Comfortable working across multiple sites with diversity of regulations and challenges and flexibility to travel to geographically dispersed locations
- Inghams is self-insured environment, so experience working in a similar environment with an understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements, is an advantage.
- Cert IV in a WHS or related discipline
- Experience in Injury Management & Return to Work programs
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate cross-functionally to build strong relationships and influence key stakeholders
- Excellent analytical skills, able to work with multiple pieces of data and translate them into meaningful insights and information
- Ability to work independently and complete tasks autonomously
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
