Coexistence Queensland seeks applications from interested members of the community for the filling of (multiple) member positions for a term of up to three (3) years. A separate role profile is available for the chairperson position if this opportunity is of interest, too.Coexistence Queensland is established as an independent statutory body under the Coexistence Queensland Act 2013 (the Act). Coexistence Queensland promotes sustainable coexistence by cultivating deep understanding, fostering collaboration, and nurturing positive relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
We focus on bringing our stakeholders together to work collaboratively, resolve issues and achieve balanced economic, environmental, and socially responsible outcomes.
Coexistence Queensland Board
The Coexistence Queensland board (the Board) is made of seven members, comprising a part-time Chair and up to six part-time members (referred to as the Board). Members of The Board are appointed for a three-year period.
Under Section 9A of the Act the Board will include members that have a:
(i) knowledge of, or experience with, the interests of landholders; and
(ii) knowledge of, or experience with, the interests of communities in which the resources industry or the renewable energy industry operates; and
(iii) knowledge of, or experience with, the resources industry; and
(iv) knowledge of, or experience with, the renewable energy industry;
The Board Is Appointed By The Governor In Council And Each Person Must Be An Eligible Person Under Section 10 Of The Act Which Includes Qualification Or Experience In Any Of The Following
- the resources industry;
- the renewable energy industry;
- a branch of science relating to activities carried out as part of the resources industry or the renewable energy industry, or the impact of those activities on the environment;
- legal practice relevant to activities carried out as part of the resources industry or the renewable energy industry;
- negotiations between landholders and the resources industry or the renewable energy industry;
- the agricultural industry;
- land management;
- land valuation;
- community development;
- financial and business sector relevant.

- High level written, verbal and interpersonal communication, consultation and negotiation skills with demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of key stakeholders.
- Leads by example and encourages others to work with professionalism and integrity at all times.
- Contributes own expertise to achieve outcomes through the ability to plan, lead and manage strategic projects to deliver intended results within agreed timeframes.
- Considers financial and budget implications, including value for money assessments in planning decisions.
As a Board member of Coexistence Queensland, you will have responsibility for the following:
- Guide and assist Coexistence Queensland to achieve its strategic objectives stated in Coexistence Queensland's strategic and business plans;
- Participate in Board meetings (six meetings annually) in accordance with Part 2, Division 4 of the Act, and other relevant governance forums;
- Ensure the oversight of standards, legislation, policies and procedures relevant to Coexistence Queensland's business;
- Attend and participate in the Community Leader's Council meetings and other relevant engagement forums;
- Attend occasional site visits and engagement activities in the field;
- Represent and engage with the community, industry and other groups with regards to the role and business of the Coexistence Queensland and sustainable coexistence matters; and
- Establish and maintain positive stakeholder relationships across a broad range of stakeholder groups.
