Primary objective
Provide administrative support, reception duties and support services for efficient operations of the Children’s Development
Team under the direction of the work unit manager.
Context statement
The Children’s Development Team provide multidisciplinary allied health services in urban and remote settings of Central
Australia and the Barkly District with an emphasis on early intervention, to optimise a child’s developmental potential and
maximise the child’s physical, intellectual, emotional and social wellbeing.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide general administrative support for the team such as processing referrals, client wait list management, filing,
scheduling of appointments and recording of meetings.
2. Provide high quality customer service to both internal and external stakeholders including face-face, telephone or
electronic mail communications.
3. Oversee office supplies and maintain office equipment including procurement, preparation and coding of invoices for
payment.
4. Assist staff with vehicle management and the booking and processing of staff travel.
5. Contribute to the achievement of work unit goals and key performance indicators.
6. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being
undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated exemplary interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member in an environment inclusive of people
from diverse cultural backgrounds, children and their families, and people with disability or developmental delay.
2. Knowledge of office management procedures, including ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, database and e-mail
software.
3. Excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to deal confidentially with sensitive information.
4. Demonstrated ability to manage timelines, work under pressure, prioritise tasks effectively, pay attention to detail and
seek appropriate guidance and support where necessary.
5. Willingness to integrate into work practices relevant government standards and policies (such as Workplace Health and
Safety Standards).
Desirable
1. Qualification in office administration or equivalent
2. An understanding of procedures relating to financial delegation
