We currently have an excellent opportunity available for a motivated individual to work within our Community and Development team at the City of Busselton. This is a great position for someone who has experience working with local community groups and organisations, providing advice and assistance to better serve our community.

About the role:

Reporting to the Recreation and Community Development Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing a key community liaison role with community groups and organisations across the City of Busselton. This includes assistance with, but not limited to, community capacity building in business planning, governance, succession planning, training and development.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Facilitate the establishment and development of self-reliant community groups and organisations by providing professional advice as to management procedures, funding opportunities, network contacts, service planning and needs identification and analysis.
  • Provide leadership and develop partnerships to achieve community development initiatives.
  • Provide education, training and professional development opportunities for volunteers and community organisations.
  • Assist in the formulation and development of community projects including identifying funding opportunities and grant submission advice and assistance.
  • Assist to implement and measure the outcomes of the Community Development Plan
  • Administer the Community Grants application process including assessment and financial acquittal process.
  • Facilitate the Disabled Access and Inclusion Plan reference group, associated budget and outcomes.

What you will need to succeed:

You will align with our values and be a critical thinker, with the ability to motivate and influence others. Ideally, you will have the following skills and experience:

  • A demonstrated understanding of current Community Development principles and practice.
  • Experience working with community groups and organisations.
  • Experience supporting disability, access and inclusion outcomes.
  • Experience in strategy and policy development.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Developed computers skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
