Are you passionate about healthcare and eager to make a positive impact in Western Australia’s rural and remote communities? The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) WA is excited to offer an opportunity for a skilled Primary Health Care Nurse, Registered Nurse, or Nurse Practitioner to join our inaugural RFDS Goldfields Community Health Centre, in collaboration with the Kalgoorlie Campus of Curtin University’s Department of Rural Health (GUDRH).

This innovative clinic will enhance the community’s access to preventative healthcare, health promotion, and offer unique hands-on experience for students from Kalgoorlie and the wider Goldfields region. As part of our dedicated healthcare team, you will play a key role in improving health outcomes and providing comprehensive care to those in need.

About the Role

Collaborate with the Clinical Lead - GP and Practice Manager in setting up workflows and defining team roles for a new, vibrant clinic.

Provide exceptional nursing care in collaboration with the General Practitioner, addressing patient needs and adhering to professional practice standards.

Lead and implement proactive health initiatives, using holistic Primary Health Care principles in a culturally sensitive manner.

Work closely with the broader clinical team to develop general practice management plans and team care arrangements.

Mentor nursing students and collaborate with other healthcare professionals, fostering a learning and supportive environment.

About You

Full AHPRA Registration as a Nurse (essential).

Strong nursing experience with a minimum of five years’ postgraduate experience, ideally within a General Practice setting.

Comfortable using practice management software (Best Practice is preferred).

Strong interest in mentoring students and a collaborative team player.

Ongoing commitment to professional development and maintaining relevant competencies.

Preceptorship (desirable but support available to gain certification).

The mission of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Western Operations) is to provide excellence in aeromedical and primary health care across Western Australia.

In 2024, the RFDS launched a new five-year strategy ‘Above and Beyond’, which marks an important new chapter in the long Flying Doctor history.

The RFDS is commencing an exciting period of expansion, with the aim of providing a bigger community impact in the areas where it’s needed most – primary health care.
