Bunbury Equine Hospital (Harradine and Associates Veterinary Surgeons) has an exciting opportunity for an equine vet to join our established equine hospital and team.
Our equine hospital has been locally operated for over 5o years and is the largest and most experienced veterinary hospital in the southwest of Western Australia.
We have veterinarians dedicated solely to our equine practice with experience and expertise in all aspects of equine medicine. Our hospital offers a wide range of services including surgery, general medicine, diagnostic imaging, endoscopy, ultrasonography, and reproduction/stud work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Primary veterinary management of equine cases.
- Duties will involve a full range of equine practice responsibilities, including medicine, anaesthetics, lameness exams and workups, surgeries such as stitch-ups and castrations, wound management, routine dentals, eye exams, health and husbandry advice, race meetings and reproduction work during season.
- A special interest in reproduction and foal medicine will be looked on favourably and we have the option of a seasonal reproduction role available. This would involve conducting reproductiveevaluations (ultrasound exams, diagnostic tests) and manage mare reproductive cycles. Provide expert breeding management advice & assist with artificial insemination/embryo transfer. Support foaling and post-foaling care for mares and foals
- Participate in the hospital’s on-call roster for emergency and routine care
Ideal Candidate:
- Veterinary degree + Australian registration (eligible to practice in Western Australia)
- 2+ seasons of experience in equine reproduction (thoroughbred breeding, twin reduction, placental monitoring)
- Will consider applications from post equine internship candidates
- Valid driver’s license and strong time management skills
- A passion for stud medicine and thoroughbred racing or a general equine veterinarian with duties including
- Client-focused approach with excellent communication skills
