The role of the Team Leader Sport and Community Facilities is to coordinate the operations of sport and community facilities within Hume and to actively promote facilities and services to enhance participation opportunities for Hume residents in accordance with the goals Active Hume.
The Team Leader Sport and Community Facilities reports directly to the Coordinator Indoor Sports and Stadiums. They will be responsible for the coordination of the following facilities:
- Craigieburn Sports Stadium
- Boardman Basketball Stadium
- Sunbury Recreation Reserve Stadium
- Progress Hall
- Westmeadows Hall
- Sprint Athletic Stadium
- Broadmeadows Basketball and Netball Stadiums.
What you’ll be doing:
- Assist the Coordinator Indoor Sports and Programs in the recruitment, selection and induction of staff as required.
- Supervise permanent and casual staff employed to work at identified facilities including the preparation of staff rosters within developed budgets and reconciliation of timesheets.
- Prepare monthly facility debtors for processing by the Finance Department and assist in the monitoring and recovery of outstanding debts.
- Actively seek and coordinate new tenants, services and opportunities to ensure that a diverse range of well patronised activities are offered to patrons at facilities.
- Develop, maintain and monitor administrative systems, procedures and forms to ensure the efficient and secure operation of sport and community facilities including customer bookings.
- Assist the Property and Development unit with the implementation and monitoring of facility lease and licence agreements in consultation with the Coordinator Indoor Sports and Programs.
- Ensure facilities remain ‘fit for purpose’ by conducting regular facility inspections to identify, prioritise and report facility maintenance works for rectification and monitor the timely completion of requested works.
- Liaise and gain co-operation with internal Hume Council departments to identify and co-ordinate marketing activities designed to effectively promote facilities and services and increase customer usage and awareness, including social media.
- Collaborate with Coordinator Indoor Sports and Programs and Sport Development & Inclusion Officer to foster strong external relationships and increase unique usage of the stadiums across Hume, increasing participation within the facility.
- Plan and Deliver Quarterly Check In’s to permanent and some Casual staff members as per the Staff appraisal process.
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with team members, stakeholders, and clients at all levels. Proven experience in conveying complex information in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and in writing, while adapting communication style to suit various audiences.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage competing demands. Adept at balancing multiple projects simultaneously and delivering quality outcomes under pressure.
- Expertise in structuring workflows, coordinating schedules, and maintaining accurate records. Ability to streamline processes and improve efficiency within a team or department to achieve optimal results.
- Proven experience in fostering a collaborative team environment, mentoring staff, and delivering training to enhance team performance. Skilled at identifying strengths and development areas to build a cohesive and high-performing team.
- Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues. Capable of evaluating options and implementing effective solutions that drive continuous improvement and enhance operational effectiveness.
- Strong leadership qualities with a focus on guiding, supporting, and motivating team members. Ability to provide strategic direction, manage change, and inspire others to achieve shared goals and objectives.
- Exceptional ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, clients, and colleagues. Skilled at creating an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect, fostering open communication, and understanding the needs and motivations of others.
