Glenelg Shire Council is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our Parks and Gardens team.

The position is based at the Council's Botanic Gardens Depot, primarily focusing on gardening and maintenance in the Portland CBD as well as parks and reserves throughout the Shire, though duties may vary to support other works and services as required. The Parks and Gardens role typically involves labouring and the operation of plant and equipment.

We are looking for a candidate with a positive attitude, the ability to work well within a team, and strong attention to detail. Previous trade qualifications or labouring experience would be advantageous.

What you need to Succeed

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Experience or qualification in horticulture
  • Knowledge of plants and diseases
  • Experience in using a variety of small plant and equipment
  • Teamwork, collaboration and ability to adapt to a changing environment
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain a high standard of work
