We are seeking a Bus Engineering Lead to join our team, reporting to the Manager, Bus Assets.

The Bus Engineering Lead is responsible for providing technical advice and assurance to Service Providers and the Department on the Adelaide Metro Bus Fleet as well as taking an active role in the annual bus replacement program including the transition to a zero-emission bus fleet. The role is also responsible for the monitoring of maintenance by the Service Providers and the assessment of maintenance and renewal plans.

About You
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in managing mobile assets, with a solid understanding of asset management practices. You will possess a working knowledge of Australian Design Rules, relevant Australian Standards, and the Code of Practice for Buses, ensuring compliance and safety within operations. Experience in procurement, contract management, and project management, showcasing a well-rounded capability in overseeing projects from inception to completion is required. You will also need to exhibit strong critical thinking skills, enabling you to explore and apply innovative technologies effectively within the bus fleet.

Qualifications/Licences
A degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, providing eligibility for membership as a Professional Engineer of the Institution of Engineers, Australia.

A current driver’s licence is essential.

A bus licence is desirable.

Special Conditions
A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment in the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.

Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.

Remuneration
PO5 - $124,449 to $130,253 pa + superannuation.
