Central Gippsland Health (CGH) is a sub-regional health service and the major provider of health and aged care services in the Wellington Shire. CGH is located in the City of Sale which is 215 km east of Melbourne. The City of Sale is an ideal access point for the magnificent Gippsland Lakes, 90 Mile Beach and the Victorian Alps.
CGH provides acute care as part of an integrated service delivery model across Wellington Shire and beyond. The service provides beds across three campuses (Sale, Maffra and Heyfield). Acute services include a full-time emergency department, critical care unit, neonatal critical care unit, three operating theatres, day procedure unit, oncology and dialysis services in addition to general medical and services and sub-acute services including rehabilitation.
CGH is also a leading teaching hospital, affiliated with Monash University's School of Rural Health and provides placements and clinical experience for students.
About Department
The role supports the Engineering Services Department. Engineering Services Department provides all essential, preventative and breakdown maintenance across all CGH sites, as well as managing and assisting with multi-disciplinary project works.
About the Role
A Fitter and Turner is responsible for the fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair of machinery and mechanical components. This role typically requires the use of machines such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to create and shape parts to precise specifications. Fitter and Turners play an essential role in manufacturing, maintenance, and repair industries across various sectors, ensuring machinery runs efficiently and that parts are accurately produced.
Duties

Inspect, maintain, and repair machinery and equipment to ensure it is in good working order.

Plan and execute own workorders as allocated from CGH’s facilities management system being responsible for all aspects and ensuring safe, quality, value for money, timely outcomes.

Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitter and Turner) or equivalent qualification.

Demonstrated experience as a Fitter and Turner, with knowledge of machining and mechanical systems.

Proficiency in operating and maintaining CNC machines, lathes, mills, grinders, and other equipment.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.

Strong understanding of engineering materials, including metals and alloys.

Strong attention to detail and precision in work
