Description:
The Senior Policy Advisor is responsible for undertaking analysis and developing policy in matters of economic policy and performance in the Victorian water sector. The position will provide related strategic advice to senior executive management in the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action, to the Office of the Minister for Water and Victorian Government agencies.
The Senior Policy Advisor will:
- Undertake critical analysis, source and review relevant information to formulate policy advice, in particular in relation to water industry reform, efficiency, economic regulation and pricing.
- Carry out and manage projects and policy reviews and develop frameworks to support advice, assessment and policy development.
- Provide strategic and authoritative policy advice to senior management on policies and policy direction in the water sector, particularly in relation to economic regulation, pricing and investment evaluation.
- Prepare, and/or manage the preparation of, submissions, reports, ministerial briefings. papers and ministerial correspondence.
- Articulate and communicate information, reasoning and implications of reform policies and economic regulation frameworks to internal and external stakeholders.
- Negotiate and liaise at senior levels in both public and private sectors on policy.
- Lead and participate in multi-disciplinary teams working on policy issues.
- Practice cultural safety by creating environments, relationships and systems free from racism and discrimination so that people can feel safe, valued and able to participate.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- A tertiary qualification (or working towards a qualification) in accounting, business, finance, economics, business administration or equivalent (required).
This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
