About the Opportunity

Join our team as a Township Maintenance Officer and play a vital role in ensuring the upkeep and safety of our community. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks, including minor construction work, cleansing and graffiti removal, general maintenance, and manual labor. You'll operate various equipment and tools with precision and care, while proactively inspecting and maintaining diverse assets like playgrounds and open space furniture. Safety is paramount in this role, as you'll adhere to strict OH&S policies, use provided safety equipment and contribute to creating a risk-free environment for all.

You will make an impact by

  • Executing a variety of minor construction tasks such as woodworking, welding, concreting, signage and furniture installation, and playground part replacement.
  • Performing general maintenance and repairs like litter removal, cleansing duties, graffiti removal, and other laboring work.
  • Manual tasks such as lifting, carrying materials, raking, and digging are part of the role.
  • Safe and efficient operation of various maintenance and construction equipment, including hot washing units, tractors, reach arms, skid steers, and handheld tools.
  • Proactive inspection and maintenance of diverse assets, including playgrounds, park and street furniture, bridges, and commercial districts, as well as conducting regular inspections and daily maintenance of any plant or equipment, are key responsibilities

What you will bring

  • You will possess a current Victorian Driver License with Medium Rigid Endorsement
  • Have experience in infrastructure maintenance and construction, including experience in maintaining plant and equipment such as hot washing units, blowers spray units etc. and proficient in operating trucks and equipment.
  • Hold a Construction Induction Card and ideally possess certificates in various areas such as civil construction, chainsaw operation, manual handling, chemical handling, and traffic management.
  • Playground Auditors certification Level 1 is desirable
  • You should have previous relevant experience, a strong grasp of safety regulations, equipment operation skills, electronic scheduling proficiency, customer service abilities, and alignment with Cardinia's values framework.
