About The Role.

We are seeking an experienced agronomist to play a crucial role in optimizing crop production, improving agricultural practices, and ensuring sustainable and efficient farming operations. Our Agronomists work closely with farmers, agricultural businesses, and research institutions to enhance crop yields and quality while minimizing environmental impact and bringing sciences to practice.
The Agronomist seeks to continually expand McCain’s agriculture purpose, living by our values and working towards our strategic agriculture ambitions.
Provide expertise on crop selection, planting, and cultivation techniquesStay current with agricultural research and technological advancementsConduct soil tests to determine nutrient levels and recommend soil amendmentsPromote sustainable farming practices, including regenerative farmingCollaborate with farmers and agricultural businesses to assess their specific needs and challengesProvide recommendations and solutions to optimize crop productionEnsure compliance with local, state, and federal agricultural regulations and environmental standardsConduct workshops, training sessions, and educational programs for farmers and agricultural staffShare knowledge on best practices and new agricultural technologiesDesign and manage on-farm research trials using state-of-the-art digital tools Support the deployment of novel science and technologies on the farmDevelop an extension strategy to promote promising agronomy results to growers Translate agronomy opportunities into ASP (Agronomy Structured Projects) Identify and introduce the best new potato varieties the world has to offer to the McCain global business

Qualifications
A Degree in Agriculture, Agriculture Business, Agronomy or related field is essential (Potato-related would be even better!)

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenA positive attitude even in intense situations with tight deadlinesSuperb organizational skills, with the ability to prioritizeCan problem solve, exercising sound administrative judgement with a sense of urgency Strong knowledge of Windows and the Microsoft Office suite An adaptable and collaborative style Analytical with a results-oriented mindsetDigital, data-driven with a customer and data-obsessed outlookStrong interpersonal skillsKnowledge of computers, GPS, and smartphone technologies are essential. Understanding of GIS and remote sensing is an assetValid driver’s license (required)
