How you will create an impact
AIG is currently looking for a Senior Risk Engineer to join our Commercial Property division and support the fast-growing Pacific Commercial Property book of business. Our Engineers work closely with the underwriting team, in addition to engaging with our key corporate stakeholders, to deliver our risk engineering services to fee-paying and non-fee-paying clients.
The position will be based at our offices in either Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane and report into Asia Pacific regional management, based in Australia.
Key accountabilities will include but not limited to:
- Support our team in Pacific to provide engineering oversight to the regional underwriting office for Commercial Property accounts
- Completion of Account Summary Reports for prospective new business and renewal accounts
- Support underwriters with submissions by establishing key account measures such as MFL and NLE to determine underwriting capacity; risk ratings; quality of risk; evaluate risk recommendation compliance and risk consulting service needs in line with AIG Guidelines.
- Provide engineering services that enhance underwriting performance by helping reduce overall account loss potential, improve account risk quality through risk assessments and risk improvement consultations
- Manage the engineering Client Service Plan (CSP) including service plan development, service coordination, report reviews, recommendation handling and stewardship of the account
- Develop field engineering service and survey plans, review completed reports, provide technical loss control assistance to engineers, clients, perform marketing functions for new & renewal business
- Site visits are documented using company report formats detailing a variety of property risk characteristics, presenting recommendations for risk improvement and avoidance, detailing and analysing exposures and establishing fire and other natural catastrophe loss estimate scenarios
- Site work will require the ability to analyse hazards and evaluate fire protection water supplies
What you’ll need to succeed
AIG strives to be a highly client-focused organisation, something that should be reflected in your social skills, personal presentation and high quality of work output.
These candidates will have the following:
- Working knowledge of Internationally recognized fire protection standards (e.g. NFPA Codes) as well as local asset protection standards (required). Preference is to be Highly Protected Risk (HPR) trained
- Broad knowledge in ‘all risk’ property loss control and experienced in performing property field surveys of commercial and light to high-hazard industrial occupancies
- Knowledge of Building code, Fire Protection systems, machinery breakdown equipment risk assessment capabilities and other occupancy specialists’ skills are desired but not required.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is desired
- Ability to write clear and concise overviews and reports
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work within a team environment and autonomously
- Good analytical skills
- Strong presentation skills
- Proven experience within the insurance industry
- Out of city overnight travel is required (10% to 25%)
