Your role

As a Senior Case Management Officer at Broken Hill Correctional Centre, you'll play a pivotal role in the rehabilitation and reintegration of offenders. Through evidence-based practices, you'll help create and guide intervention plans that address the root causes of offending and reduce the risk of recidivism.

This is a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about community safety and personal transformation to make a meaningful impact in a vibrant regional setting.

What you'll do

As part of the dedicated team, you will:

  • Deliver a full range of case management services to offenders, ensuring all activities comply with relevant legislation, policies, and guidelines.
  • Conduct assessments to identify risks and needs, developing personalised case plans to support offenders through their rehabilitation journey.
  • Guide offenders using motivational interviewing and strengths-based approaches, encouraging positive behavioural changes.
  • Collaborate with service providers to refer offenders to programs and interventions that align with their case plans.
  • Monitor the progress of case plans and ensure compliance with judicial requirements, providing regular updates and reports.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate successful reintegration for offenders upon release, enhancing their transition back into the community.

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience in delivering evidence-based interventions for diverse offender groups, particularly those with complex needs.
  • Expertise in using risk assessments and case management tools to develop targeted intervention plans.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with experience in addressing challenging behaviours through behavioural interventions.
  • Knowledge of contemporary correctional practices and a strong commitment to offender rehabilitation and reducing recidivism.
  • Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure a cohesive and supportive case management process.
  • Current Certificate IV in Correctional Practice with the necessary Units of Competency for this role - or the capacity to complete Certificate IV in Correctional Practice (internal training offered by Corrective Services Academy) in accordance with specified timeframes)
  • Tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent years of experience in human services fields is preferred.
