The ClientOur client is an ASX-listed gold producer with a processing facility located in Northern Queensland. Following a successful recapitalisation and new investment backing, the business is positioned to restart operations and commence production at its existing processing plant.
The company is now seeking to appoint a seasoned operational leader to drive the recommissioning and management of the site’s gold production. This is the business’s highest priority appointment, forming the final step needed to transition from care and maintenance into active operations.
The Opportunity
As the General Manager , you will be responsible for leading the safe and effective restart of the gold processing plant and overseeing contract mining operations. You’ll work closely with the executive team and will have end-to-end accountability for site performance—driving production, building the operational structure, and ensuring all statutory obligations are met.
This is a site-based role with flexibility around roster and living arrangements for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the restart, ramp-up, and operation of a 220ktpa gold processing plant,
- Oversee mine production and haulage logistics from multiple pits (ranging from 2 to 100+ km from site),
- Manage contractor relationships, ore supply scheduling, and operational planning,
- Ensure compliance with statutory and SSE responsibilities (SSE ticket preferred),
- Build the operational team from the ground up and design supporting systems,
- Deliver gold output targets (~16,000 oz p.a. in initial stages),
- Embed a strong culture of safety, performance, and accountability.
- Proven leadership experience in gold processing or metalliferous mining operations,
- Strong technical knowledge of plant performance, metallurgy, and production planning,
- Commercial awareness of contract mining models and cost control,
- Experience managing site-based operations in regional or remote settings,
- SSE ticket preferred, or the ability to obtain one post-appointment,
- Restart or turnaround experience highly regarded.
- Executive-level remuneration with vehicle or allowance included,
- Flexible roster and work arrangements negotiable,
