Our Home: Our aged care home provides a warm, supportive environment for our residents, and we believe that well-maintained outdoor areas can enrich their daily lives. To offer a more personal living experience, our 51 bed community is divided into smaller households and plenty of outdoor spaces to enjoy. Nanyima is just a 30 minute drive from Mackay, nestled amongst sugarcane plantations and sugar mills, and is close to beautiful rainforests and national parks.
The Role: A gardener's role in an aged care residential home is centered around creating and maintaining outdoor spaces that are not only visually appealing but also safe and functional for the enjoyment and well-being of the residents. This involves carefully planting and pruning a variety of flowers, shrubs, and trees to ensure they thrive in their environment, while also enhancing the overall aesthetic of the garden. Lawn care is a key responsibility, which includes regularly mowing, edging, and watering to keep the lawns lush and well-maintained which adds a homely touch to the facility.

Duties Include:

• Maintain and enhance gardens, lawns, and outdoor areas
• Plant, prune, and care for trees, flowers, and shrubs
• Perform regular weeding, mulching, and fertilizing
• Mow lawns and trim hedges
• Ensure walkways and paths are clean and safe
• Work closely with the care team to create outdoor spaces that meet residents' needs
• Follow all health and safety guidelines

To be Successful you'll need:

• Experience in gardening, landscaping, or horticulture
• Unlimited working rights in Australia – MANDATORY
• NDIS Check - MANDATORY https://www.workerscreening.qld.gov.au/
• Strong knowledge of plants, garden maintenance, and seasonal care
• Ability to operate gardening tools and equipment safely
• Attention to detail and a passion for creating beautiful, functional outdoor spaces
• A compassionate and patient nature, with an understanding of working in an aged care environment
• Physical fitness and ability to perform manual tasks
