Daisy Hill Koala Centre offers visitors a rich, interactive experience with a strong emphasis on the conservation of koalas. The small team at the centre have a passion for koalas and the environment and are looking for someone who shares their enthusiasm and passion. As a Wildlife Ranger, you will be integral to maintaining this legacy, steering educational outreach programmes. supervising interpretive projects and embracing aspects of venue management to ensure the Centre remains a showcase for Queensland's iconic marsupial.Some of the tasks this position will be responsible for include (but are not limited to): Overseeing venue management, ensuring a high-quality visitor experience while upholding the Centre's sustainability and koala conservation goals. Plan, manage and implement interactive educational outreach programs and deliver koala conservation messaging in line with the SEQ Koala Conservation Strategy in face-toface community engagement, including koala keeper presentations, group tours and working with media crews.
The role also requires you to perform wildlife husbandry tasks that adhere to existing legislation, policies, and procedures, including species care, safe handling, and secure containment practices. With a particular emphasis on koala welfare you will plan, oversee and collaborate with various interest groups and stakeholders on immersive interpretive signage dedicated to koala conservation and the protection of threatened species. There is also some administrative tasks including purchasing of goods, auditing and stocktake of equipment and maintaining official records.
