About the opportunity
Position:
Clinical Nurse
Vacancy: Permanent Part-time, 16 hours per fortnight
Location: Oncology Day Unit, Townsville University Hospital

What's on offer?
Pro rata remuneration package based on full-time equivalent value of up to $132,289 p.a.

  • Salary range: $54.44 - $58.30 p.h. (+ applicable allowances/benefits) (Nurse Grade 6, Band 1).
  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading and 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

About the role
Join a dynamic team providing high quality, patient-centred nursing care to oncology and medical infusion patients under the care of haematology, medical oncology or medical infusions in the Oncology Day Unit at Townsville University Hospital. In this role you will be expected to develop and use your assessment, care planning implementation and evaluation skills to ensure patient care is delivered in accordance with the EVIQ recommendations. The successful applicant will also be a valued member of a broader Oncology Nursing Team of Ambulatory Oncology, interacting regularly with members of all aspects of Ambulatory Oncology. Opportunity also exists to interact with the Oncology Clinical Trials Team and learn about the latest clinical trials.

The incumbent will be supported in obtaining relevant skills and knowledge to enhance their career advancement in their chosen direction, through internal and external education, the support of an Oncology Nurse Educator and an active Inservice program.

Role requirements

  • Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent is a mandatory qualification for this position. Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate.
  • Attainment of Oncology Specific Competencies are mandatory for all nursing staff working within the Oncology Day Unit, including Antineoplastic Drug Administration Competency and knowledge of Apheresis Procedures, particularly Total Plasma Exchange.
