Are you passionate about supporting your community and making a real difference in the lives of individuals and families experiencing Domestic and Family Violence (DFV)?

We are excited to offer a Traineeship opportunity for First Nations workers, or those aspiring to work within the DFV sector, to gain practical experience and earn a nationally recognised Certificate III in Community Services.

Position: Trainee – Certificate III in Community Services Location: Cairns Duration: 12-Months

About the Role: As part of this traineeship, you will work alongside experienced professionals in the Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) sector, providing essential support services to individuals and families who are impacted by DFV. You will gain hands-on experience while completing your Certificate III in Community Services.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to develop key skills and knowledge in:

  • DFV awareness and intervention strategies.
  • Legal and ethical frameworks governing DFV.
  • Crisis intervention and risk assessment.
  • Trauma-informed care practices.
  • Cultural safety and sensitivity, with an emphasis on First Nations perspectives.
  • Community-specific support pathways for survivors

Key Criteria:

  • Identifying as First Nations (Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander).
  • Genuine interest in working within the DFV sector.
  • A desire to help and empower individuals and families.
  • Ability to engage with diverse community members and organisations.
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn.
  • No previous qualifications required (entry-level traineeship).
