Job OverviewAs an Applied Scientist at Geoneon, you will begin on a casual basis, with the potential to transition into a permanent part-time or full-time role, depending on mutual preference and organisational needs. This structure allows for flexibility as you settle into your position and get acquainted with our projects and culture. In this role, you will utilise your expertise in climate physics and data analysis to innovate and inform key decisions, all while collaborating with a passionate, multi-disciplinary team.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct data analysis and modelling of climate datasets, translating findings into actionable insights.Develop and refine algorithms and tools for environmental monitoring and forecasting.Collaborate closely with software engineers, data scientists, and external partners, contributing scientific perspectives to real-world challenges.Keep abreast of emerging research and technologies in climate science, identifying opportunities for Geoneon to grow and adapt.Communicate research outcomes, methods, and recommendations effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Required QualificationsA degree in Physics, Environmental Science, Climate Science, or a related field (a postgraduate degree is advantageous).Proven experience in scientific modelling, data analysis, or equivalent computational methods.Strong programming skills in Python for data manipulation and model development.Excellent critical thinking, attention to detail, and communication skills.
Desirable SkillsFamiliarity with machine learning frameworks and big data tools.A track record of publications or contributions to climate-related research projects.Experience working with or managing cloud computing platforms.
