Join the historic campaign where The Greens Party originated from. This position is responsible for the coordination of the Restore Pedder campaign run by the Lake Pedder Restoration Inc. to support the full restoration of the original Lake Pedder and surrounding environs.

Position Details:

Position Title : Restore Pedder Campaign Coordinator

Reports to : Christine Milne AO, Convenor of the Lake Pedder Restoration Inc.

Hours : Contract 0.6 FTE

Remuneration : To be negotiated - $45,000-$50,000

Location : Hobart, Tasmania.

About the Lake Pedder Restoration Inc.

The Lake Pedder Restoration Inc. is a non-government organisation based in Hobart Tasmania. All positions are voluntary except for the Campaign Coordinator and Campaigner.

About You

We seek an individual with a passion for ecosystem restoration and the courage and grace to take forward a strong campaign as well as the optimism that we can address the Climate and Biodiversity Crises.

You will:

  • Be passionate about ecological restoration and the restoration of Lake Pedder
  • Have a proven track record delivering campaigns
  • Be experienced and successful in fundraising, event planning and delivery
  • Be experienced in managing volunteers from varying backgrounds
  • Have highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Have well-honed organisational skills
  • Possess the ability to manage and prioritise a range of tasks, plan and work to deadlines
  • Work proactively and independently with limited supervision, but also be a team player
  • Have the ability to think out-of-the-box and to adapt plans to changing circumstances and restrictions placed on events
  • Perform administrative and process-based tasks with a high degree of accuracy
  • Be social media and web savvy in a professional environment, with the ability to engage with variety of audiences
  • Be willing to represent Lake Pedder Restoration Inc at events and in the media.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead the Public Campaign to lift the profile of the restoration of Lake Pedder including direct actions and events.
  2. Manage fundraising, political strategy and partnerships to secure the resources and support to get agreement to the restoration.
  3. Manage digital communications to build the membership and supporter base.

Deliverables

  1. Lead the Public Campaign to lift the profile of Lake Pedder including direct action and events such as the:
    • Paddle for Pedder Commemoration annually in March including in the Southwest Wilderness and a National Paddle for Pedder
    • Virtual and in person events
    • Engage the media and influencers.
  2. Lead and coordinate the Public Campaign Team including creatives, artists and adventurers to create inspiring events, films, communication materials and engage people around the restoration.
  3. Work closely with the Convenor and the strategy team to:
    • Identify and secure the financial resources to drive the campaign through philanthropic contributions, crowdfunding and grants.
    • Establish a partnership program to show the support of businesses, NGOs and other partners that support the restoration.
    • Coordinate and rollout the political strategy to build political support for the restoration of Pedder and leverage Federal and State elections.
    • Coordinate research activities with academics to make the case to Restore Pedder and help to communicate this effectively
  4. Build Digital Communications by increasing engagement with a wide audience across Australia and around the world.
  5. Support the Convenor to coordinate the Lake Pedder Restoration Inc Committee including meetings of the Management and General Committees held quarterly.

Selection Criteria

  1. Appropriate graduate qualifications and experience in environmental fields across any faculty; science, law, art, or related field
  2. Experienced in environmental campaign management
  3. Experienced in political lobbying
  4. Demonstrated expertise and experience in effectively scoping and managing and documenting complex projects to a high standard and within budget and project timelines
  5. Strong track record in leading and developing tenders or project proposals for a range of funding sources.
  6. Possess, or have the ability to quickly learn, a wide range of tax and organisational legal rules and policies, expected by the ATO, ACNC and REO, to ensure the ongoing compliance of the charitable registered environmental organisation.
  7. Sound knowledge and experience in technology, digital culture and social media
  8. A strong track record in working successfully to a board of management and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic working environment
  9. Exceptional interpersonal skills, including proven ability to consult, collaborate proactively and positively with a diverse range of stakeholders
  10. High level analytical and problem-solving skills, and a demonstrated capacity to operate at a strategic level
  11. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  12. Successful police check clearance (or willingness to obtain one)
