About the Role

The ABC is Australia’s most trusted media organisation, and our People & Culture team is proud to help make the ABC a great place to work. We are seeking a Senior Adviser, On-Air Talent Contracts to lead the management of employment arrangements and contracts for our on-air talent.

In this pivotal role, you’ll collaborate with content leaders, production teams, and business support partners to ensure a consistent, ABC-wide approach to engaging, developing, and retaining on-air talent. You’ll help shape and implement frameworks and processes that support the full talent lifecycle, with a focus on development, retention, and alignment with organisational strategies.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee and coordinate contractual arrangements for on-air talent, ensuring compliance with ABC policies, guidelines, and the Enterprise Agreement.
  • Manage workflows for talent negotiations and engagements, ensuring appropriate referral and input from relevant teams.
  • Track and monitor employment conditions for high-profile talent to support benchmarking and effective contract management.
  • Work with business support teams to establish benchmarks and evaluation procedures for talent deals and costs.
  • Promote understanding of talent contracting and deal approval processes across the business.
  • Develop and maintain guidelines and process maps for managing the end-to-end on-air talent lifecycle, in collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Provide benchmarking data and support for on-air talent packages as needed.
  • Support the identification and prioritisation of talent for development and retention, and help coordinate succession planning for key roles.
  • Advise on recruitment strategies for new and emerging on-air personalities.
  • Act as a key liaison between content leaders and business support teams to ensure a positive and consistent talent management experience.
  • Contribute to divisional projects and actively promote ABC values and workplace policies.

About You

You bring experience from a business, production, or content environment and have a solid understanding and grounding in generalist HR practices, particularly as they relate to employment arrangements and contracts. You’re a natural relationship builder and coordinator, comfortable working across teams to deliver effective talent solutions.

You will also demonstrate:

  • Generalist HR knowledge and experience with the employee lifecycle, interpretation of enterprise agreements, forms of employment including independent contract agreements and employment contracts.
  • Experience supporting contract management, negotiations, or talent engagement within a media, production, or creative business environment.
  • Understanding of on-air or screen content production workflows and talent engagement.
  • Excellent relationship management, facilitation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and build trust with a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
  • Highly developed organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
