ABOUT THE COMPANY
Our client is a leading global EPC contractor in the renewable energy and power transmission space. They have multiple divisions across Australia and New Zealand, as well as operations in more than 50 countries. Currently they are constructing some of Australia's largest and most iconic projects. They have a requirement for a Bid Engineer/ Estimator to join their fast growing Tender Team, which is based in Sydney.
ABOUT THE ROLE
In collaboration with the tendering team and other stakeholders, the Tendering Engineer / Estimator is responsible for evaluating the Request for Tender (RFP) and preparing all necessary deliverables for the submission of proposals. The Tender Engineer is typically responsible for managing an opportunity from reception of the RFP documentation through to contract award, including value proposition/strategy development, solution development, subcontractor identification and risk management.
SPECIFICALLY, YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO
● Prepare comprehensive and compelling tender submissions, including technical proposals, cost estimates, and project schedules.
● Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to understand high voltage electrical system requirements.
● Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather the necessary information and documentation required for tender submissions.
● Introduction and implementation of all necessary bid procedures, governance, and processes
● Prepare Tender Packages to release to suppliers and subcontractors as Requests for Quotation.
● Technical and Commercial review of the Requests for Quotation including meeting with suppliers/subcontractors.
● Evaluate project risks and develop strategies to mitigate them in tender submissions.
● Ensure all tender submissions adhere to relevant industry standards, regulations, and client specifications.
● Develop accurate and competitive cost estimates, considering materials, labour, equipment, and overhead costs.
● Liaise with the scheduler and provide input in the elaboration of the project programs.
● Assist in contract negotiations with clients to secure project awards.
● Maintain accurate records of all tender-related documents, communications, and outcomes.
● Identify opportunities for process improvement in the tendering process to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
You will need:
● Valid Australian work rights.
● Bachelor’s degree in electical engineering or a related field (preferred).
● Proven experience in tendering and bidding processes within the construction industry.
● Strong knowledge of project management principles.
● Proficiency in cost estimation software and Microsoft Office applications.
● Knowledge of industry-specific regulations, standards, and best practices.
