With a reputation for delivering high quality meals including a standout Asian-inspired menu, our client is seeking to add a Full-Time Chef to their dynamic kitchen team to support continued culinary excellence and service innovation. The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Preparing and cooking dishes in accordance with the restaurant's standards, ensuring consistency in taste, appearance, and quality.
- Preparing dishes that accommodate customers' dietary requirements and preferences.
- Operating and managing the sauté, grill, and fryer stations in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Designing and updating menus to incorporate seasonal ingredients, culinary trends, and customer preferences.
- Ensuring all dishes meet the restaurant's quality and safety standards, including taste, presentation, and portion sizes.
- Ensuring proper temperature control for ovens, grills, and food storage equipment.
- Ordering ingredients and supplies, managing stock levels, and controlling waste to maintain efficient kitchen operations.
- Plating dishes with a high level of presentation and attention to detail.
- Maintaining impeccable hygiene and adhering to all food safety regulations.
- Managing food costs by minimising waste and utilising ingredients efficiently.
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or a comparable formal cookery qualification
- Minimum 1 year of experience leading a professional commercial kitchen team
- Proven menu planning skills (at least 1 year), including recipe development and cost estimation
- Strong proficiency with sauté, grill, and fryer techniques in a high-paced kitchen
- Experience preparing seafood, steak and high-quality protein dishes to premium standards
- Strong stock control and ordering capabilities
- Demonstrated commitment to hygiene, safety, and food handling regulations
- Experience managing kitchen operations during functions and high-volume services
- Strong communication skills with the ability to lead and support kitchen staff effectively
