You will be working in a remote Indigenous community located on the coast of Arnhem Land, approximately 500km from Darwin. The close-knit community is renowned for its vibrant art scene, particularly bark painting, weaving, and sculpture. They host cultural festivals and events that celebrate traditional practices, music, and dance. Living and working here will provide you a unique and unforgettable experience.
Your Key Responsibilities
As a Women’s Health Nurse, you will work within the Women’s Health Program in partnership with the multidisciplinary team to provide a high standard of care. You will play a critical role in delivering holistic, culturally appropriate, and effective healthcare services to women in the community. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Performing routine and specialised health screenings
- Managing and supporting women with chronic conditions
- Advocating for the health needs of Aboriginal women within the broader healthcare system
- Engaging with community leaders to understand health needs and priorities
- Fostering trustful and respectful relationships with patients and the community
To be eligible for the position, you must have the following:
- Current AHPRA registration, with no restrictions
- At least (5) years of nursing experience post registration and (3) years working in a remote, primary health field (preferably in Women’s Health)
- Competent in Women’s Health checks, including CSTs and Implanon insertion
- Family Planning Certificate in Sexual and Reproductive Health
- Current Advanced Life Support
- Current Remote Emergency Care (or equivalent)
- About Giving Vaccines (or equivalent)
- Current Driver’s License
- Current National Crime Check
- Current NT Ochre card
- Current Midwifery qualifications with the ability to backfill in the role if needed
- Post graduate qualifications or experience in Women’s Health or another relevant field
- Pharmacotherapeutics endorsed
- Maternal Emergency Care (MEC), Midwifery Upskilling (MIDUS) and Paediatric Emergency Care (PEC) or equivalent
- Previous use of Electronic Medical Records
- Must have full Australian working rights (i.e., Australian Citizenship, Permanent Residency, a valid Working Visa, or New Zealand Citizenship)
