The Role
-
Lead the strategic transformation of the NT Health Information Management and data governance functions to facilitate the effective planning, development and management of information systems for clinical and patient administrative data required for healthcare planning, funding and statutory requirements.

Lead the strategic review, analysis, implementation and ongoing management of Health Information Management and data governance functions, policies and procedures across NT-Wide health services to effect system wide improvements that result in effective, standardised information management practices and best-practice data management.

Build a cooperative information sharing culture across the branch, providing strategic leadership and effective management of the NT-Wide health information framework and the development of strong foundations for enabling electronic medical records.

Provide influential expertise to actively engage and advise key stakeholders so as to ensure organisation-wide adherence to NT Health obligations with respect to the maintenance, provision, storage and retrieval of health and corporate records and information in line with the relevant territory and National standards, Information and Records Act’s; including provision of advice on digital records, scanning and data systems.

Oversee the development and implementation of NT-wide health data systems and standards (including a data dictionary and minimum dataset) to build system-wide reporting capabilities and data repositories ensuring fit-for-purpose, accessible and continuously improving data quality to inform healthcare, safety, planning, funding and accurately meet statutory requirements.

Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.

Essential
-
15 years’ experience as a senior information manager in complex multi facility and health service delivery environments

Extensive knowledge and experience in implementation of data and systems standards across multi system environments

Strategic mindset with ability to collaboratively engage and influence stakeholders across the health system

Extensive knowledge and understanding of health information management legislative and regulatory frameworks

Ability to create an achievement culture across a large team resulting in delivery of high-quality work and outcomes across a division
Desirable
Bachelor of Health Information Management and/ or post-graduate qualification in business, information systems, epidemiology or relevant fields
