Role
Job Summary:
The Hotel Accountant is responsible for managing daily financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards. This role involves overseeing general ledger functions, reconciling accounts, preparing financial reports, and ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Accounting:
- Ensure accuracy in financial records, postings, and account reconciliations.
- Maintain and analyze financial data using property accounting systems.
- Assist in preparing Profit & Loss statements and Balance Sheets.
- Perform month-end closing tasks, including journal entries and reconciliations.
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Process invoices, bills, and payments according to company procedures.
- Follow up on outstanding accounts and vendor payments to ensure timely resolution.
- Monitor the performance of accounts receivable functions.
Cash & Compliance Management:
- Prepare and audit daily cash deposits and cashier transactions.
- Maintain compliance with company financial policies and government regulations.
- Ensure proper trust accounting procedures are followed.
Reporting & Auditing:
- Generate and distribute financial, statistical, and payroll reports.
- Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with corporate policies.
- Assist in tax return preparations and financial documentation.
Operational & Team Support:
- Maintain a secure and organized archiving system for financial records.
- Train and support staff in financial policies and procedures.
- Attend meetings and contribute to financial decision-making processes.
Competencies & Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
