We have an exciting new opportunity available for a Head Chef to join a Hospitality Team at one of Melbourne’s most prestigious colleges in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.
What will your day look like;
As Head Chef, you will be responsible for the execution of food for events across the school along with preparation and execution of food for boarding and tuckshop. With a focus on high quality catering, this role is hands on leading a small team to deliver memorable food experiences.
You will be part of a high-quality hospitality team working together across both front and back of house areas to deliver a coordinated service for all stakeholders.
What will you bring?
To be successful in the role, you will ideally bring the following:
- A qualified chef with at least 5 years’ experience in high quality hospitality venues
- Experience in delivering high quality boarding and function catering.
- Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and service peers
- Ability to drive innovation and adopt culinary trends.
- Demonstrated leadership and experience in being part of professional kitchen team
- Food Safety Supervisor Experience
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Day to day production and assisting with oversight of all food produced and served.
- Production of a range of contemporary cuisines and service styles including buffets, formal dinners and cocktail parties.
- Financial and operational management of the kitchens, including all compliance requirements
- Ensuring only the very highest standards of food presentation & creativity
- Recruiting, inducting, and training kitchen staff as required
- Stock Management – ordering & replenishing stock
- Supervise and co-ordinate kitchen.
- Brief staff daily on all aspects of food service.
- Maintain compliance for both school and Trippas White Group.

- Proven and successful background in kitchen and team management
- A focus on providing excellent contemporary food!
- Strong understanding of all aspects of menu planning disciplines
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast paced, dynamic work environment.
- Highly developed leadership skills with strong human resource skills
- Strong knowledge of food handling and hygiene principles
- Computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and other ordering systems)
