Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio.

The Opportunity

As a member of the site Sustainability and External Relations team you will provide specialist support, regular and timely reports, and participate and contribute to the wider activities of Newmont Tanami Operations S&ER Department.
Environmental performance is at the heart of Newmont’s social license to operate philosophy and ensures that relationships with key partners are maintained through active, open and honest communication/consultation.

Your duties will include contributing and assisting with the following:
• Mining Management Plan and Consolidated Mining Agreement
• Regulatory reporting, monitoring and investigations
• Hydrocarbon and chemical management
• Water and waste management
• Flora and fauna management
• Education and awareness

Who you are
You will have a tertiary qualification in Environment (Environmental Engineering/Science Degree, Diploma of Natural Resource Management) and previous experience in mining or resources role.
