Regional Alliance West Inc
Geraldton Full-day Full-time

Description:

Reintegration Counsellor
Location: Geraldton, WA | Part-time 0.8FTE | SCHADS Level 6.1 Community Services

Are you passionate about supporting individuals as they reintegrate into the community? Do you believe in second chances and empowering change?

Regional Alliance West is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting individuals and families experiencing disadvantage across the Midwest, Murchison and Gascoyne regions of Western Australia. With over 40 years of service, we have grown to deliver 11 unique programs with a committed team of over 30 staff and volunteers.

Operating across a vast region—from Geraldton to Exmouth, Leeman to Wiluna—we work in some of the most remote and resource-challenged communities in the state. Many of these areas face significant social and economic pressures, including long-term drought, housing shortages, unemployment, and the rising cost of living.

Our mission is simple: to provide accessible, practical support that empowers individuals and strengthens communities. We offer outreach services, counselling, advocacy, and tailored programs that connect people with the resources they need to thrive.

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Reintegration Counsellor to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will provide therapeutic counselling and holistic support to individuals transitioning from the justice system back into their communities.

Key Responsibilities:

· Deliver one-on-one counselling to individuals post-release, focusing on trauma, PTSD, addiction, family/domestic violence, grief, and anger management.

· Collaborate with Reintegration Caseworkers and external stakeholders (prisons, Adult Community Corrections, health and social services) to provide wrap-around support.

· Assist clients in stabilising their living situations, accessing mainstream services, reconnecting with family, and sustaining a non-offending lifestyle.

· Provide flexible, culturally sensitive support including in-person, social media and remote counselling.

· Engage in community development initiatives and promote client education and empowerment.

· Support up to 35 clients annually, for up to 12 months each.

About You:

You are a qualified and experienced counsellor, passionate about restorative justice and helping individuals break cycles of re-offending. You bring a trauma-informed, client-centred approach, and thrive in collaborative, community-focused environments.

Essential Criteria:

· Relevant counselling or social work qualification.

· Experience working with clients affected by trauma, addiction, and the justice system.

· Knowledge of the reintegration process and community services landscape.

· Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

· Willingness to travel within the service area and to WA prisons.

· Ability to manage a caseload and maintain detailed case records and reports.

Why Join Us?

· Be part of an enthusiastic team making a real impact in people’s lives.

· Ongoing professional development and support.

· Flexibility in service delivery and autonomy in your role.

· Help build safer, stronger communities through positive reintegration.
