Curragh Mine, near Blackwater, is one of the largest open-cut coal mines in the Queensland Bowen Basin and is unique in that it has two Coal Handling Preparation Plants.

About The Role:

Coronado is seeking a dedicated Mine Surveyor to join our Curragh North team on a lifestyle-friendly 7/7 roster. This permanent role offers competitive remuneration and subsidised accommodation options—including housing or camp facilities in Blackwater—to suit your lifestyle preferences.

As a Mine Surveyor, you'll play a crucial role in delivering precise survey services, including pit design set-outs, topographic surveys, volume calculations, and reconciliations. Your expertise will support critical reporting and analysis while ensuring compliance with statutory obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct high-quality surveying activities to support Curragh North operations in achieving production targets.
  • Provide timely and accurate set-outs for pit operations, encompassing ROMs, trucks and excavators, drill and blast, draglines, dozers, dumps, geotechnical and geological requirements, incident site scanning, water level pickups, volume calculations, and reporting.
  • Utilise surveying equipment and technologies to collect and process accurate spatial data in accordance with site procedures.
  • Ensure the delivery of accurate survey data in line with statutory and company standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date mine survey records and prepare daily, weekly, and end-of-month survey reports promptly.
  • Review and update all survey practices and procedures to align with best practices and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in surveying or a related field (RePL (CASA Multi Rotor UAV) preferred).
  • Proven experience as a surveyor, ideally within the mining and resources sector.
  • Proficiency with surveying equipment such as Leica Total Stations, Optech CMS, DJI drones, and Trimble GNSS.
  • Experience with surveying software, including Vulcan, Deswik, or Surpac.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Comprehensive understanding of mining regulations, safety protocols, and quality assurance practices..
